Here she is again, further demonstrating her coolness.

I also mentioned Coral is going to med school because she wants to be a doctor in Africa. Awesome, right?
Here’s the thing. Med school is insanely expensive. She’ll be paying off loans for yeeeeaaarrrssss when she finishes, meaning, she can’t fulfill her dream of helping impoverished African youth for, you know, a long long time, which is, in medical terminology: super sucky.
So, she’s asking for help. It’s my pleasure to share her Go Fund Me page because this is a young woman going places (literally). She was inspired by a book she read as a kid, Kisses from Katie, about a young woman who moved to Africa and wound up adopting a bunch of girls. Y’all like books. I thought you’d appreciate that.
Please check out her page to read her full story and maybe consider tossing in a buck or two. It would mean a lot to her, and me, and Sensei (though we care about him less) if you helped Coral out with her noble mission.
Thanks, Beloved Blog Buddies! Please go here. 🙂

That is amazing. It is too bad med school students aren’t better supported financially. I donated some and shared on Facebook and Instagram. I hope she’ll collect a lot.

Good on you for helping this young woman follow her dreams. It’s always fun to see how you weave good deeds and martial arts into a blog post.

Ha! Thanks, AB. Should I change my blog name again? “Good deeds and martial arts”? 😉 This might be the only post that would qualify, though. 😛

I’m sure you INTEND for all your deeds to be good, so if you must change your blog name again… go for it. HOWEVER I like your current blog name, fwiw. It suits you perfectly.

No real intention of changing it again. I’m glad you like the current one. I do too. Not sure how long it will remain accurate, however. 😕

Oh no… motherhood will remain, so marital arts is on its way out of your life?

I’m not sure, AB. I should have my black belt in a few months. Will I stick around beyond that? I don’t know. Will I ever get back to Jiu-Jitsu? Also questionable. I do enjoy it all, but I’m not sure what my end goal is. It was always get the black belt. Will I push back the goal post? Second degree black would require another two years. Do I really want to start myself on that journey, not knowing for sure if I can complete it, especially given my age and propensity toward injury? Shrug. Time will tell, I guess. I appreciate your interest. 🙂 And thank you for reading even though I know I’ve gotten behind on my weekly dose of Spectacled Bean’s wit and humor. 🙂

What a clever idea–crowd funding college tuition. Best of luck!

I hope it works! If anyone was deserving of assistance with this… It’s 84K a year. Asking for 50K barely scratches the surface of the debt she’ll be struggling with afterward. 😦

My foot has a cramp just looking at hers! What a nice thing you are doing helping spread the word about this young lady. I know the debt my daughter has is crazy and she is an NP. We did what we could to help but barely touched what she owes.

Ugh. That’s so rough, Diane. What a bummer of a system.

Is she one of those “is there anything she can’t do?” types of people? I am most definitely NOT one of those types of people.
Now it’s my turn to mention your chuckle-inducing comments: …though we care less about him… 🤣

If there was nothing she can’t do, I’d be forced to dislike her, so let’s assume she’s a terrible singer or can’t draw the side of a barn, how about?
And, thank you. Half funny, funny true. 😉
